This month has absolutely flown by! End of January already...how can it be? I just thought would throw out some tidbits on our life.
I got a new job! Well a new position...at the same place I work now...so it isn't completely different but my day to day role will be. I am going to be a Contract Specialist in Provider Relations. Sounds fun right? Well I guess I will start finding out Feb 14th. The only part that is really really weird to me is that I am not going to be a Social Worker anymore...I am keeping my certification, so technically I will be...but my actual day to day job is going to be not a social worker. Still sort of wrapping my brain around that one...but in a good way.
The girls have started to pick fights with each other. Full blown fights. It is making me insane...I mean if you are going to fight at least fight about something worth while like what coloring book to use. Recent fights at our house have included "I am wearing a purple shirt"- "No your not, it's pink"- "No it's not, its purple!"- "No it's not it's pink"- "No it's NOOOOOOTTTTT (insert extremely whiney voice that makes me want to crawl into a hole)"....for the LOVE OF GOD, who cares?
Makenna likes to tease people-particulary when you want to get her dressed or change her diaper. She thinks is it hilarious to run away and stand there taunting you saying "you'll never catch me"...
This morning Makenna told me she had to pee. I have actually been sort of avoiding the whole potty training thing because lets face it-it is a lot of work and most of the time you are working harder than they are...so I figured until she basically poked me in the eye and told me she was ready I wasn't going to anything about it. Well I think I might have had my eye poked today. Not getting my hopes up though! I put her on the potty (holding her on the toilet so she doesn't fall in because the potty chair is still in our garage collecting dust) and encouraged her to pee. Katey stood right along coaxing her as well, patting her back and exclaiming "you are peeing on the potty!". Makenna might have been a little freaked out about our excitement and being balanced over a large cold toilet didn't seem like the right place for her first official pee....so she announced that she didn't have to go. I put her diaper back on and approximately 2 minutes later I noticed it was FULL OF PEE. So we might be onto something here. Meanwhile Katey is already picking out which panties Makenna can wear and when I mentioned Pull Up's there were screams of delight-from Katey. Those are the moments when I totally feel the love between Katey and Makenna. I mean who else in the world would be so excited that you might pee on the potty, wear underwear and join the ranks of big girls all over the world? A sister. And a good one at that!
Makenna has finally entered the land of all things Dora. I was starting to think that maybe she would miss that phase...not so much. She is obsessed. She watches the same episode of Dora every single morning before she has to get ready for the day. "Boots in the hole"- I am not sure what the real title is but the whole show revolves around a hole in Boot's boot. She loves it. So this weekend we might try to hit up the Mall of America so Makenna can meet Dora and Diego-the giant sized ones....if we go an update will be coming-I have a feeling it will be interesting!
Katey has had a month of feeling sick and ragged...poor thing has the darkest eyes when she is tired and I think all month she has looked like she is running on an average of two hours of sleep and just pulled an all nighter to finish a term paper. Some antibiotics will hopefully do the trick-she is already feeling a wee bit better.
That about sums up January....

I seriously think we live the same life sometimes! HA! Your comments about your children bickering ... I could've written those myself! I really wish I understood why the silliest of things matter sooooo much to a child. It drives me nuts!
Kadin recently turned 7 (isn't that crazy BTW???) and he and Bella got into a heated argument when she told him that it wasn't really his birthday. As if her saying that made it true.
