Hard to believe that six years has gone by since this beautiful child entered our lives...hindsight is such a great thing to have. Looking back at this picture I have to laugh because I should have know by the look in her eyes she was going to give me sweet love and lots of trouble. Even as a baby Katey was something else, loved to stand up-look around and was so alert and active. Today she is still such a busy body-going going going going going going...until one of us has to say "Katey stop it". She sings and dances and touches things and skips from one project or game to the next in the blink of an eye! Katey wants to be a singer when she grows up-she is already creating her own songs and words and sometimes I think she is singing real songs and then find out "no, it's just one I am making up". At six years old she is halfway into her first year of elementary school-and loving it. She hardly seems like a kindergartner when she tells me stories of her day and uses slang words and makes dramatic eye rolls. Her first report card was excellent and the good news is that in school she behaves well, listens well, is kind and caring towards others....the bad news is that she uses up all that good energy at school all day long and can be tough to handle at home. And when I say tough, I mean impossible. Katey likes to have things done her way, on her terms and timeline. Maybe it is first child syndrome?!Katey loves to play house, dress up, and always includes her little sister. Katey is a good big sister. She keeps the activity schedule going in our household on daily basis. She also likes to play her Nintendo DS and our new "IPad" that she can get her fix on Angry Birds. Barbies and American Girl dolls litter her bedroom. Last year we watched the movie Tangled and she decided she would grow her hair out...it is getting long now and she likes to brush it herself and lately has opted to just wear her hair down to school. She loves clothes, the more clothes and shoes in her dresser and closet the better. Very typical girl but also loves soccer and last fall started showing that she has a little bit of a competitive side! Katey is one of my favorite people on this planet-we have our struggles and I am coming to terms with the fact that we might always have struggles...but she still comes home from school with pictures and art with I love Mom written all over it so I am hoping I am doing something right. Really that is my only goal-raise a happy and healthy girl who loves me as much as I love her. Happy Birthday Katey Elizabeth.
