One thing that I love about Katey is that she is always ready and willing to give a hug and kiss-anytime and anyplace. By nature I just love to hug so this is really a special thing for me. However-she has now developed a new obsession-before anyone leaves the house she announces "I need a hug and kiss!". Which is adorable and fun...but now she is requiring multiple hugs. In her words "Lots of them". Because in Katey's world, if she likes something, more is better...this is shown in her multiple bandaides, and tatoos!
So this morning before I could leave for work she asked for her usual hugs and kisses-lately we have reached 10 hugs and 10 kisses as a requirement before I can leave. And we have to count each one. I was in a hurry today and quickly squeezed her 10 times and gave as many kisses in 3 seconds as I could. As I rushed out the door she sat eating her yogurt and yelled, "but I need one more!". I told her that she got enough and went on my way.
Walking into the office I was chatting with a co worker and was joking with her about Katey's need for so many hugs...and how as much as I love it, when I am late for work it kind of makes me crazy. My co worker very quickly said, "well take advantage of it...before you know it she will be telling you to drop her off three blocks away from school and pretending she doesn't know you". It makes me sad to realize how quickly that day will probably come. So I think tomorrow morning when Katey asks for one more hug...I will go back and give her a big hug. She deserves it and so do I.
