Bath Time Is Fun Again!

Well it only took TWO FULL YEARS of crying and screaming during baths for Katey to finally realize it just really isn't so bad afterall!

I love this picture and even though Joe told me not to post it (b/c after all they are not dressed!!), I just can't help myself. Nana and Grandma Ginny both agreed this was an adorable picture so I figured it is safe to post.
So anyway, I am rambling...but the real reason I wanted to post this is because during this entire bath adventure...I smiled, I laughed, and I wanted to take pictures. Do you understand what this means to me? In the past I would spend bath night dreading it...putting on the water, waiting for the tears, trying to convince Katey she would be FINE, and don't even get me started on washing her hair!!! I would swear, sweat, and eventually cry on a very regular basis-bath time was not fun...or pretty. For awhile I actually had to bribe Katey with M&M's while I washed her hair. Now that it is in the past I can laugh about it, but I really do have a little bit of PTSD when I start to remember just how stressful it was. How much Katey really did not want to be bathed and she was not one bit afraid to tell me how much she hated it!
Then something amazing happened...and her name is Makenna. Makenna has loved her bath since birth! She is calm and relaxed while I wash her and she never cries when I wash her hair. I even get water in her eyes and ears sometimes by accident and guess what??? She just looks at me like "oh what was that?"...but not a single tear. Well this did not go unnoticed. Katey Elizabeth caught on quickly that her baby sister wasn't crying in the bathtub, not even when I got out the dreaded shampoo bottle! I am thinking she did not want to be outdone by that new baby sister. So pretty soon Katey was willing to get in the tub, splashing around, and gasp...even GETTING HER HAIR and FACE WET! Katey is proud of herself after a good bath and now gets excited when I tell her it is bath night! Tubbies as we like to call them. Makenna is just big enough that she can sit up and is finding out how much fun it is to splash in the water. The night I took this picture I really should have had the video camera out. Makenna would splash and then look at Katey and wait for her to splash, and once Katey splashed Makenna would giggle out loud and splash again. It was precious! Makenna seems to adore Katey more and more each day. I am so thankful that bathtime is fun again and we can actually look forward to some fun in the tub with both girls. Kids need baths-it is so much better when they like it!!

Oh my goodness Emily! I don't know what I would've done if my kids didn't like baths! They have always loved them.

My only bath dilemma is that Bella sometimes still wants to jump in with Kadin and he just really doesn't want her around during baths anymore. I guess he's too grown up!

I'm glad you are having fun in the water!
